No accounts, no mailing list, no ad networks. Here is the small amount of data that does move around.

Mud & Mat is a publisher. We have no accounts, no logins, no shopping cart and no customer records. This policy explains the small amount of data that does move around when you use the site.
What we collect
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages get read and which links get clicked. It records things like the pages you view, roughly where in the world you are, your device type and browser, how you arrived, and clicks on outbound product links. It is configured for aggregate measurement - we are looking at whether a guide is useful, not at you.
Google Analytics sets cookies. You can opt out with Google's browser add-on, with your browser's cookie controls, or with any standard content blocker, and the site works exactly the same either way.
The contact form
When you send a message we receive your name, your email address, an optional subject line and the message itself. It is emailed to info@mudandmat.com and used only to reply. We do not add you to a mailing list - we do not have one.
The form uses a hidden field and a timing check to filter automated spam, and it limits how many messages can be sent from one network address per hour. No captcha, no third-party verification service, and no tracking of you across other sites.
Server logs
Our hosting provider keeps standard request logs - IP address, requested URL, timestamp, user agent - as part of operating and securing the site. We do not build profiles from them.
What we do not collect
- No accounts, passwords or user profiles - there is nothing to sign in to
- No payment information. We do not sell anything; purchases happen entirely on the retailer's own site
- No mailing list and no newsletter
- No advertising-network cookies or retargeting pixels

Affiliate links
Clicking a product link on this site takes you through our own `/go` resolver and then to the retailer. The retailer sets a cookie so a purchase can be attributed to this site - Amazon's lasts 24 hours. We receive aggregate commission reporting from the retailer; we do not receive your identity, your payment details or what else was in your basket.
Once you are on the retailer's site, their privacy policy governs, not ours. Full detail on how the links work is on the affiliate disclosure page.

Everything with access to any data from this site.
Your choices
- Block analytics with a content blocker, browser settings or Google's opt-out add-on. Nothing on the site breaks.
- Do not use the contact form if you would rather not share an email address - we have no other way to reply, and that is a fine choice.
- Ask us to delete a message. Email us and we will remove the correspondence from our inbox.
- Block the affiliate cookie with your browser's third-party cookie controls. The links still work; we simply are not credited.
Children
This site is intended for adults buying household goods. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us something through the contact form, email us and we will delete it.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, the date at the top of the page changes with it and the substance of the change is described here rather than quietly folded in.
